The EGU and EWGA are working together to increase women and girls participation in golf and to support the EWGA’s strategy to ‘Drive Women’s Golf’.

Statistics from the EGU/EWGA Golf Club Membership Questionnaire 2006 have shown that:

• 85% of golf clubs have membership vacancies for female players (adult & junior).
• 70% and 63% of golf clubs are actively seeking more adult female and junior members.

To help support golf clubs, the EGU/EWGA have produced a leaflet entitled ‘Women’s & Girls Golf’ which has been designed to help guide golf clubs on how to recruit and retain more women and girls. To request a copy please telephone 01526 354500.

Several clubs in Durham County have been doing some great work in recruiting Women and girls into their membership including South Shields who last year held free taster sessions and further subsidised coaching to none members which resulted in an increase of 23 new lady members!!
